Wild Camping

Way back in January as I set myself a challenge of posting a photo to my blog every week this year, something I hadn’t appreciated was the gratitude that I would feel as I looked through my photos each week whilst preparing those blog posts.

Much has happened this year, and I am extremely grateful for the comfort that I have felt as I looked through those photos each week.

As the year comes to a close, and I have been looking back through the photos I have posted, I am conscious that, in no small part due to life being upended for me back in March, I have missed both the peace and the grounding that wild camping brings me.

So, as we move in to 2025, one of my plans is to try and spend more nights under the stars wild camping!

Here’s to exploring in 2025!

Red Squirrel

One of the many things I enjoy about heading out walking is seeing, and appreciating wildlife.

Sometimes though, I don’t need to go for a walk (or go outside). This photo was taken from my window when I was up in Laggan back in October.

Happy Christmas!

General Wade's Bridge

Throw back to my trip to Laggan in Scotland recently.

As I explored around Glen Shira, I went to see General Wade’s bridge. This hump-back military bridge, built by General Wade and dating from 1731-2 no longer crosses a burn as the course was altered when the nearby Spey Dam was constructed in 1946.

Clear Sky

I am grateful that I get to walk in wonderful places on a regular basis.

This year I have noticed how much cloud cover, and how grey the sky has been, much of the time.

The past week or so I have noticed that the air is often clearer, although often this is whilst it is dark, and only for a short while after sunrise.

Misty Morning

Going out walking early in the day brings some amazing views over the year. Sure, sometimes it is wet, windy, grey, thick fog, or just dark (using head torch)!

Other days I get treated to views like this!

Mushroom

I was struck by the number of different mushrooms I spotted during an early morning walk the other week. I took photos of 4 different types, although there were more.

I think this is likely to be a Tawny Grisette, although not 100% sure.

Red Sky

Heading out for a walk this morning, it was nice to experience a colourful sunrise after a long period of questionable cloud cover.
